Bee Hive in October

$600.00

You stand near the hive on an autumn afternoon and watch the steady stream of worker bees returning home. Can you imagine the soft hum of thousands of bees preparing for winter, each one carrying out her essential work? Picture yourself catching the sweet scent of wildflowers drifting on the breeze as bees buzz past, entering and exiting their wooden fortress. You realize in this moment how much depends on their survival. The warm sepia tones of the weathered hive boxes harmonize with the golden light of late October. The smooth, luminous surface of the mixed media with photo transfer contrasts with the raw aluminum edges that frame this intimate view. This artwork expresses the profound interconnection between bees and our dependence on their quiet, essential labor.

The piece sparks meaningful conversations about what we can do to protect these creatures who pollinate a third of our food supply. This artwork celebrates the care we must extend to the beings who care for us in return.

I was interested in learning more about beekeeping because bees are responsible for pollinating about 1/3 of the food supply. I was inspired to make this artwork after attending a beekeeping demonstration! It is titled “Bee Hive in October”. Bees are so important to the existence of life on planet Earth because of their pollination services. That’s why it’s so important to protect bees. When I first learned about this I decided to include bees and beekeeping into my artwork series, Sustain.
