The First Strawberry in June

from $750.00

Do you remember pausing in your garden to truly see what you've grown with your own hands? This artwork expresses that mindful delight when everything slows down and you notice the small miracles unfolding around you. Appreciate this very first ripe strawberry of the season, a tiny jewel of patience rewarded. The berry's deep red color glows against her palm. Imagine the anticipation of tasting that first strawberry of the summer. The serrated edges of the strawberry leaves catch the soft light while unripe berries still cling to their stems, promising more harvests to come. The red color of the fruit and lush green color of the strawberry plants are repeated in the strawberry dress in soft focus bringing harmony to the scene. This is the gift of paying attention to nature's rhythms and finding beauty in everyday moments.

I decided to plant strawberries because I like to eat sustainably! I love strawberries, but the ones I can buy in the market usually all come from California, and I live in Massachusetts. That’s a lot of pollution emitted to travel thousands of miles for me to eat strawberries. I strive to reduce my personal impact on the environment. I was inspired to create this artwork when I harvested my first strawberry!
