Planting Celebrity Tomatoes in May

from $750.00

Have you felt that tender optimism as you nestle young seedlings into the soil, imagining the summer harvest to come? This artwork expresses that hopeful nurturing, showing the gentle care you give to fragile plants that will eventually feed you. The gardener cradles a Celebrity tomato seedling in her hands, its delicate green stem and serrated leaves still small and vulnerable. The dark, crumbly soil clings to the roots visible at the base of the plant. You can almost feel the cool dampness of the soil on your fingertips and smell the earthy scent. Recently planted seedlings can be seen through the metal fence. This is the peaceful hope that comes from starting new life in your garden, trusting that with care and patience, these small plants will grow into abundance.

I used the fence as a framing device, out of focus in the foreground to convey that I grow an abundant garden of produce in a small urban space. Growing vegetables at home is something I do to reduce my carbon footprint and eat healthy organic food. My garden is only 60’ x 3.5’ and between May- October I rarely need to buy fruits or vegetables. It is amazing how much abundance can come from such a small space.
