Inspecting My Defiant Tomato for Pests
Inspecting My Defiant Tomato for Pests
Imagine the gentle ritual of early spring gardening. The way you cradle each tender seedling in your hands, turning leaves to check for aphids or damage. Your fingers move with practiced care, inspecting every stem. This artwork captures that quiet moment of devotion. Feel the protective instinct every gardener knows when nurturing vulnerable young plants. Soft morning light illuminates delicate tomato leaves held between caring hands. The young plant glows with that unmistakable spring green of new growth. You can almost feel the cool dampness of garden soil on your fingertips and smell that distinct tomato plant scent.
This photograph draws you into an intimate act of tending the delicate seedling. Envision this tender moment of connecting with the life giving capacities of the earth hanging in your kitchen, livingroom, entry hall, or potting space. It becomes a daily reminder of the patience and attention that sustainable living requires. Your fellow gardeners will recognize this scene immediately. They'll share their own stories of the satisfaction of growing their own tomatoes. For you, this artwork celebrates the quiet devotion that transforms gardening from a hobby into a practice of care for the planet and yourself. It's a year-round connection to those hopeful spring days when anything seems possible in your garden.
“In this artwork I wanted to convey the tender care required to grow an abundant garden. I composed this photograph through a vining plant that grows on a trellis arch over my garden entrance. I wanted to create a frame within the image to highlight the moment of tenderly planting the tomato seedling. I plant my tomato plants at dusk or on a cloudy day. Planting at those times is gentle to the seedlings because they are only used to artificial grow lights and not yet accustomed to the intense light of the sun. ”
