This artwork expresses that spirited vitality, showing the dynamic joy of harvesting towering pole beans under a brilliant blue sky. You reach up confidently to pluck green beans from vines that climb nine feet high. The lush bean plants cascade down beside you, their broad heart-shaped leaves creating a living green wall. You can almost feel the smooth, crisp pods snapping off the vine in your hand and the warmth of the August sun on your face. The vibrant red and orange colors worn by the gardener contrast brightly against vibrant green vines and cerulean blue sky. “I was so impressed by the quick growth and abundance of these Northeaster pole bean variety. Every day pollinators visited the delicate white blooms. Because of that I was inspired to create an image that alluded to their role in producing this abundance. So I purchased this lovely butterfly skirt to wear in the image. I knew the combination of blue, green, red, and orange would create a dynamic image. I set up my camera with a self timer, my supplementary light, my ladder and climbed up alongside the 8’ trellis to capture the image. During the photo shoot, my neighbor walked by and made a joke about the scene causing me to laugh! When reviewing the photographs this turned out to be my favorite.”
