Golden and Chioga Beet Harvest

from $750.00

Have you pulled root vegetables from the soil and felt a surge of accomplishment seeing what you coaxed from the earth? This artwork expresses that earthy pride, showing the deep satisfaction of harvesting beautiful beets you nurtured from seed. Hands cradle freshly pulled Golden and Chioga beets. The smooth, round globes glow peachy coral and deep magenta, each one still crowned with stems and trailing delicate hair-like roots. You can almost smell the rich, loamy scent of fresh soil and feel the cool, firm weight of the beets in your palms. The wispy golden roots contrast beautifully with the smooth skin of the beets and the rough texture of the soil clinging to them. This is the grounded pride that comes from working with your hands to grow food that will sustain you and your loved ones.14" x 21" image size in an edition of 10 (+ 1 AP) and currently no. 1/10 is available for you to enjoy.

This artwork was inspired by the first time my husband pulled beets from our garden in the first year we started gardening together. I was engrossed by the jewel tones of these heirloom varieties of beets. This series is a visual diary of our attempt to live a more sustainable and healthy lifestyle. It was a special moment that I wanted to capture in a photograph.
