Anaheims, Yellow Bell and Chinese Eggplants in August
Anaheims, Yellow Bell and Chinese Eggplants in August
Have you brought home a basket overflowing with vegetables from the farmers market or your garden and felt deeply satisfied knowing you can feed your family well? This artwork expresses that nourishing abundance. Hands cradle a woven basket filled with glossy purple Chinese eggplants, bright yellow bell peppers, and vibrant red Anaheim peppers. Can you imagine the smooth, cool skin of the peppers and the satisfying weight of the full basket in your hands? In the background, the garden glows in golden afternoon August light. The polka dot pattern on the vintage style black dress creates a playful contrast with the natural woven texture of the basket and the glossy vegetables, and reminds you of the history of the victory garden movement when Americans grew produce in backyards and community gardens. This artwork is the deep contentment that comes from knowing you've brought home food that will nourish your body and delight your taste buds.
Envision this nourishing artwork in your kitchen or dining room, where it celebrates satisfying abundance. When your guests see it, they'll share favorite recipes for peppers and eggplant or stories about the meals they've created from their own harvests. It sparks conversations about vegetable varieties suited to your favorite cuisines. This artwork celebrates the nourishing abundance you experience when your garden or local farmers market gives you everything you need to cook delicious, healthy meals.
“I was inspired to create this artwork by the beautiful colors and glossy textures of these eggplants and peppers. I waited until the late afternoon sun was glowing golden to take the photograph and I chose this rough textured basket. I used an auxiliary light in the front with a yellow gel to give it that soft warm glow.”
