from $640.00

When you grow your own food, you discover moments of calm where the simple act of picking beans becomes a meditation in motion. This artwork celebrates that serene yet joyful experience in June when you move through your garden, pockets filling with crisp pole beans while you're surrounded by the lush abundance you've nurtured. It honors the peaceful interconnection between your creative care for the earth and nature's generous response, reminding you that growing food feeds both body and soul.

Created through the historic cyanotype process, this unique artwork glows with rich Prussian blue tones that evoke both nostalgia and timelessness. The monochromatic blue palette transforms the garden scene into something dreamlike and serene, with bean-filled pockets and flourishing pole bean plants rendered in luminous detail against the deep indigo background. The hand-brushed edges and organic texture of the cyanotype process honor centuries-old photographic traditions while celebrating contemporary sustainable living. The cool blue tones convey the calm, meditative quality of tending your garden on a peaceful June morning.

My husband came home from work and found me in the garden with beans spilling out of my jeans pockets. He burst out laughing. He said, “You should make this into a photograph.” I loved his laughter. I recognized that this moment would make a whimsical artwork. The abundance was so generous that I could barely carry it all. That feeling of unexpected abundant harvest, captures something joyful and essential about gardening.

This signed and numbered handmade cyanotype contact print is created using the Prussian blue cyanotype process on 65% recycled cotton archival watercolor paper, ensuring both longevity and connection to photographic artistic traditions dating back to the 1840s. Each cyanotype is hand coated with a hand-crafted light-sensitive iron based emulsion in the darkroom, exposed in UV light, and developed in vinegar water. This process introduces subtle variations in brush marks along the edges and tone that are integral to this historic process. Due to the handmade nature of cyanotype printing, no two prints are exactly identical. The watermark is only for internet display and will not be on your artwork. The artwork comes unframed. This artwork is available in a limited edition of 15 at 8"x 10", 3 at 20" x 24", 2 at 24" x 30" +1 AP at each size. Each piece is signed and numbered.
