You are invited to my solo exhibit, The Ecological Surreal, at Tower Hill Botanical Garden in Boylston, Massachusetts (http://www.towerhillbg.org/) where I am exhibiting selected works from the Otherworldly Visions series and the Seldom Seen series. The exhibit will open on June 29th and continue through July 31st. You are invited to drop into the artist’s reception on July 8th from 6pm-8:30. This night only the garden will waive the admission fee so that this event is free and open to the public. If you decide to take some art home with you, 40% of the proceeds will support this nonprofit garden, which is a wonderful educational, cultural and recreational regional resource. On July 31st I will be giving a Seeing Photographs workshop from 12pm-3pm where participants can learn to make their own best photographs while enjoying an afternoon at the garden. Participation in the workshop requires a contribution of $20 (non-members) or $15 (members), which includes the admission fee to the garden all day and the artist talk afterwards. The workshop is limited to 20 participants and advance registration is required for the workshop. The registration deadline is July 24th. To register, contact the education department of Tower Hill by emailing

I have just updated my website with additional works from my series of photomontages depicting the endangered and threatened species of Costa Rica. I invite you to take a look! I would be very interested in suggestions you may have for a title for the series. I need a title that suggests the themes in the body of work. I have been struggling to create a title with meaning that doesn't seem overdone. I look forward to your feedback on the images and on your suggestions for a series title. In other news I am officially on sabbatical this semester, and I have big plans! |

The reception at the Danforth Museum was so well attended that the parking lot was completely full and I had to park down the street. I enjoyed meeting the viewers and answering the questions that they had. The exhibit will continue through November 8, 2009. For directions, hours and information visit the Danforth’s website. In exhibition news, I invite those of you who are able to join me at the Danforth Museum for the New England Photography Biennial 2009, September 13 - November 8, 2009, where my work will be featured. The image chosen for the exhibit was my work titled “Boston 2200 A. D.” The exhibit will officially open with a special public opening reception honoring the artists on Saturday evening, September 12 from 6-8 p.m. A number of special lectures and talks will occur through the course of the exhibition. This exhibit occurs every two years, and in it the Danforth Museum of Art celebrates photography as an art form through a highly selective exhibition of photographers who reside throughout New England. Juried by Phillip Prodger, Curator of Photography, at the Peabody Essex Museum, and Barbara O'Brien, former editor of Art New England and former Director, Trustman Art Gallery, Simmons College, Boston, the 2009 New England Photography Biennial showcases exciting and innovative photography by both established and emerging artists. Prodger and O'Brien chose 73 works from 1,030 pieces submitted by 213 artists. For directions, hours and information visit the Danforth’s website. |
