I work to expand the boundaries of established gender categories and sexual orientations and engaging in self-naming to create newly visible identities.
My work is both inspired by and investigative of issues of gender identity and sexuality. I find inspiration in my personal experiences and my observations of the life experiences of others. My work reveals my explorations of gender identity and definitions of fantasy and eroticism, thereby challenging binary definitions of gender and the erotic. My works express freedom to self-identify in terms of both gender and sexual expression, without the strict categorical distinctions that are usually forced upon individuals by western society. I want viewers of all gender identifications and sexual orientations to see my work as suggesting alternative possibilities of sexuality and gender identities. I want viewers of my work to feel inspired to rebuke attempts by others to limit their unique and personal sexual or gender identification.
